Race in the Heartland Conference 2019: Learning Strategies For An Equitable Future

The Dubuque Human Rights Commission in partnership with several Dubuque community organizations have created this conference to discuss regional conditions related to race, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The conference is open for one or two-day registration for October 18-19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Loras College Alumni Campus Center.
Participants will gain:
- An increased cultural competency through an understanding of implicit bias
- A clear definition of implicit bias and an understanding of its impact on racial, social and economic disparities
- Tools to assess their organizations and systems as well as techniques for interrupting implicit bias
- Awareness of disparities and disproportionate outcomes within and across systems including education, housing, criminal justice and the workplace.
The conference has been approved for HR credits through TRIHRA and HRCI. There are discount rates for groups of 10 people, a student discount rate, and an early registration fee prior to September 16th.
