Dr. Harvey will offer undertold stories as a way of generating a conversation about the question, “Now what?” She will lay out what a reparations framework offers Christians and others working on diversity initiatives today in a shift from a reconciliation framework. This free session is open to the public and registration is not required.

Dr. Jennifer Harvey is a professor at Drake University, Huffington Post blogger and adviser to faith communities, academic audiences, government entities, and businesses around the nation. She is coming to Dubuque to discuss and workshop the ideas in her book, Dear White Christians: For Those Still Longing for Racial Reconciliation. She challenges people of all faiths (and those without) to listen to leaders of color who urge that equity efforts begin with repair rather than reconciliation, in order to move toward the genuinely diverse partnerships that mark healthy communities. She will host a plenary session on Friday, and an all-day workshop on Saturday.
